Vaccines have made many preventable diseases very rare, but outbreaks still occur, so it is very important to get your child’s back-to-school vaccinations. Come on in to Aubrey Pharmacy today to avoid the rush in August– we’ll take good care of you.
Whether they’re in preschool or college, kids of all ages need vaccines. This not only keeps them healthy, it keeps those around them healthy too. Texas state law requires certain vaccines for school-aged children, so we’ll help you make sure up-to-date.
Up to age 6, a series of vaccines protects your young child from 14 serious diseases, and flu vaccines are recommended for kids older than 6 months.
From age 7-18, kids are at risk for other diseases like HPV and meningitis, so vaccines like HPV and meningococcal conjugate vaccine are highly advised for continued protection. This is also the time they need booster shots because the protection from their initial vaccines will begin to fade over time. For example, whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus boosters are given at these ages. Flu shots are also highly recommended on an annual basis. Young healthy people can get the flu too.
If you’ve missed a few shots, don’t worry. It’s never too late to get caught up. There is a recommended “catch up” schedule for every age, so come on in and we will help you with that. You can also use physicals for summer camps, family travel, and sports participation as great times to get a vaccine.
